Over the past five years, I’ve accepted that my husband loves wearing women’s pajamas to bed. When he first started exploring this option, I must admit that I was a little uncomfortable with his desire to wear women’s clothing. So we did what any healthy couple would do. We kept talking about it, and slowly, over time, I began to understand his perspective. He moved from borrowing my pajamas to us shopping for his own. These days, buying him some soft, fun, and feminine PJs is one of my favorite things to do for him.
Loving The Feel
When we first started this exploration, one of the first things he shared with me was that he loved the feel. Now, my husband rarely wears underwear under his pajamas, and he noted that the fabric used for women’s pajamas is often softer and thinner than those used in men’s underwear and pajamas. For some reason, the world must think that men need “hard-labor” quality fabric for their intimates. He’s an blazing oven in bed and lead towards being very warm at night. If he wasn’t wearing pajamas, he often loves sleeping naked. These fabrics allow him to feel the coolness of the air while still wearing something at night.
Feeling Sexy
Another concession he shared with me after a while was that these pajamas made him feel pretty, sexy, and seen. The pajamas we’re discussing here are not full-on tight, lace lingerie. He’s often only donning the bottoms of these sets. But he does enjoy the floral patterns, softer colors, and sometimes even a little lace edge. These feminine styles allow him to explore his sexuality in the safe environment of our home. I will admit that seeing him in these fabrics and patterns makes me “see him” a little more. I love touching him through these soft fabrics and how the barrier between my hands and his skin is a little thinner. Mission accomplished.
Being Vulnerable
As I mentioned, my husband often only wears the bottoms of these pajama sets. He wears pants and sometimes tops on colder nights, but he more often prefers sleep shorts. We both quickly noticed the short inseam on women’s sleep shorts. Fashion constantly changes, but we live in a world where men’s shorts are often too long. These sleep shorts are a dramatic change giving him only one to two inches at most. When we lay in bed and cuddle up behind him, I love that my hand can run up his leg and find his ass without effort. He’s shared that he loves this feeling, too and finds the vulnerability of it all a huge turn-on. We both win.
Enjoying The Variety
When you think about the options available to men in their pajama department, you quickly realize that they are all the same, and there is no pajama department. Once we started shopping for his PJs in the women’s section, a whole buffet of options opened up to us. Fabrics, patterns, colors, styles. I could feel the excitement growing in his being. Not sexual excitement but the excitement of fashion liberation. Like a kid in a candy store, he wanted to buy a little of everything to try. You have no idea how oppressed men’s fashion can be until you witness a man in this state. I realize they are only pajamas, but he wears every set with pride and a glow. I love seeing my husband happy; if this little thing helps make his day, I’m all for it.
I Love Them Too
In the beginning, I was very apprehensive about him wearing my pajamas, women’s pajamas. All the thoughts ran through my head. Is he gay? Does he want to wear women’s clothing in public? Where does this end? None of these thoughts are negative, and I would fully support my loving husband in any of these changes, but my mind was racing. So after remembering to breathe and take our time with each other, I’m glad we’ve arrived at this place. I love that he trusts me with his vulnerability. I appreciate his desire to feel sexy and seen. I totally get the comfort factor and how wonderful those soft fabrics feel. And in the end, I love that my husband wears women’s pajamas.
